From Old Mountain Field to the Pros: Nine Former Waves Launch Professional Careers

The Ocean State Waves continued to showcase their ability to develop professional talent during the 2026 MLB Draft, with six former players hearing their names called over the three-day event. Three additional former Waves signed as undrafted free agents, bringing the organization's total this summer to nine players beginning their professional baseball careers this summer.

From first-round selections to free-agent signings, here's where some of the former standouts from Old Mountain Field are headed.

Logan Hughes (‘24 Wave)

Hughes made Ocean State history when the Houston Astros selected him with the 17th overall pick in the first round, making him the highest-drafted former Wave in franchise history. The Texas Tech outfielder was also the second-highest selected former NECBL player in this year's draft, trailing only Chris Hacopian of the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, who went 11th overall.

Ryan Cooney ('24 Wave) 

The Toronto Blue Jays selected University of Oregon infielder Ryan Cooney with the 103rd overall pick. Cooney developed into one of the Ducks' top infielders after spending the summer of 2024 with the Waves. 

Josh McDevitt ('25 Wave)

Just one year after pitching at Old Mountain Field, right-hander Josh McDevitt is headed to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. The Diamondbacks selected the University of San Diego product with the 116th overall pick.

Owen Kramkowski ('24 Wave)

University of Arizona right-hander Owen Kramkowski was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 145th overall pick. Kramkowski adds another professional arm to the growing list of former Waves pitchers.

Jason Krieger ('24 Wave)

University of Maine pitcher Jason Krieger is headed to one of baseball's most storied franchises after being selected by the New York Yankees in the 17th round.

Jack Brooks ('23 Wave)

University of Oregon outfielder Jack Brooks will begin his professional career with the Washington Nationals after being selected in the 19th round. Brooks returns to the East Coast after spending his collegiate career in the Pacific Northwest.

Undrafted Free Agent Signings

Although they weren't selected in the draft, three former Waves quickly earned professional opportunities by signing free-agent contracts.

Ryan Gerety ('25 Wave) – The Northeastern outfielder signed with the San Diego Padres.

AJ Colarusso ('23 Wave) – The Boston College right-hander signed with the New York Mets.

Harrison Feinberg ('24 Wave) – The Northeastern outfielder signed with the Chicago Cubs. 

With six draft selections and three undrafted free-agent signings, the Ocean State Waves once again demonstrated the strength of their program and the caliber of talent that has come through Old Mountain Field. As these nine former Waves begin their professional careers, they'll continue adding to the franchise's growing legacy of developing players for the next level.
