School Reading Program

Ocean State Waves School Reading Program

Each summer, we place a strong emphasis on getting our players involved in the community, our longest standing tradition being our School Reading Program! Throughout the first two weeks of the season, our players visit schools across Southern Rhode Island every day and volunteer in local classrooms, do Q and A's with students, read books, and even participate in field days! This gives our players the opportunity to reconnect and make an impact on the next generation of stars on and off the field.

The goal is to place emphasis on the value of hard work, goal setting, and prioritizing academic excellence is just as important as athletic excellence when it comes to achieving your goals at the highest level! It also serves as a mirror for our athletes as they see their younger selves in these athletes, and it reminds them the importance and value of their hard work, and that there are always people looking up to them!
